This is our second child that will be attending college, however, this journey was much different than with our first child.
Maggie and Academic Pathways Consulting was pivotal in navigating our student's college future by providing professional, yet personal guidance and encouragement every step of the way. She was there from start to finish; strategically charting the course to improve graduating GPA, assisting with test prep options, adding guidance in submitting applications and essays, managing deadlines, and obtaining letters of recommendation. She has an innate ability to connect and communicate with young adults on "their level", while balancing and (as needed at times) mediating the relationship between parent and student.
Best of all, Mom and Dad were able "hand over the keys to Maggie" and allow our student to independently take charge of their future; while still having peace of mind knowing a trusted and knowledgeable guide was there to keep things on track.

The college application process can be very overwhelming for students. I cannot tell you how helpful Maggie was in working with our daughter on her college essays. She was instrumental in helping our daughter narrow down her thoughts, and apply her merits and accolades in a way that best shows colleges what they are looking for. Maggie was able to gently redirect some of my daughter’s thoughts without offending or overwhelming her. As a parent, it is really hard to critique an essay that your child has worked hard on and is very passionate about. Maggie was amazing at gently dropping the hints when essays needed to be completely re-drafted. She got our daughter thinking about ways to truly make herself stand out. My daughter was open to ideas when they came from Maggie. She has a way of connecting with kids and is very approachable. I am happy to say that our daughter was very successful in her college acceptances. We are thrilled for her and we are grateful to Maggie for her professional support and encouragement!

Our experience with Maggie at Academic Pathways has been SO helpful. She is very knowledgeable and full of resources. She worked directly with our student to guide him in making the best decisions for him. It was important to our family to give the independence and decisions to our student. This is not an easy task as a parent. We have full trust in Maggie. She has had a couple conversations with me to help guide our student, but mostly she works with him. She's totally flexible with her form of communication, which is also extremely helpful with our busy schedules. We highly recommend her.

Maggie has been a life saver. We chose this path for myriad reasons, but mostly because we didn’t want our daughter choosing a path we created for her. We wanted her to create her own path, make her own decisions and have an unbiased and experienced individual helping her navigate these decisions that will greatly impact her future. Maggie was a great help to my son (which was a HUGE help to me!) while he was navigating through the maze of ACTs,SATs, college application process, scholarships, and ultimately helping him decide which school would be a good fit. It may just be my children, but I find that they don’t really listen to anything I have to say!! When Maggie mentioned an idea or suggested a different way to look at something, he listened. At the end of the day, I wanted my son to feel empowered to make the right decisions for himself. Having a “coach” lead him through the college admissions process was just what we needed. He even reached out to her after he went off to college to get her feedback on classes he was taking as he trusted her advice. She was a great sounding board when he needed to talk something through without “getting mom’d”. I’m truly grateful for Maggie’s expertise & guidance!

We hired Maggie to guide our daughter through the college admissions process, a task that seemed incredibly daunting to us initially. Working with her has made everything so much less stressful. She had a long initial meeting with our daughter and used various personality assessment tools to narrow in on what type of school would be the best fit for her. Since then, she has kept our daughter on task, sending reminders of what needs to be completed by what date. It has helped me a lot, since normally I would be the one doing this. Maggie is much less focused on pushing the idea of getting into some elite, prestigious school, and rather on finding the school where your child can thrive. This is really important to us, and I feel comfortable with all the schools that my daughter ended up narrowing the search down to.
